Solange Azevedo

Solange Azevedo (1995) is a composer and multidisciplinary artist. Her musical creations are built upon the relationships between various art forms, drawing inspiration from the contemplation of nature and human nature.
Her works have been performed at numerous national and international festivals in countries such as Portugal, France, Austria, and Lithuania.
In 2022, she served as the Young Composer in Residence at Casa da Música, with commissions from the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra, Remix Ensemble, and Dialecticae Trio.
In 2021, Solange was selected for the ENOA – Composing for Voices and Orchestra workshop, guided by the composer Kaija Saariaho. As a result of this workshop, her work titled “Embody [the Spring]” was premiered by soprano Camila Mandillo and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Orchestra, conducted by Pedro Amaral.
She also participated in several masterclasses with composers such as Philippe Manoury, Luca Francesconi, Mauricio Sotelo and Mathias Coppens.
Solange holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in composition from ESMAE – IPP, Porto, where she studied composition with Carlos Azevedo, Filipe Vieira, and Dimitris Andrikopoulos. Under the guidance of Eugénio Amorim and Ana Isabel Freijo, she explored the relationship between musical and pictorial elements in her creative process.
